M23 Full Weekend Closure - 20-23 April
Please be aware of the following upcoming disruption in the Gatwick area which may affect your services.
The M23 Northbound will be closed from Jct. 10 (Crawley) to Jct. 9 (Gatwick) all weekend from 22:00 on Friday 20 to 04:00 on Monday 23 April. The Junction 10a onslip will also be closed.
The M23 Junction 10 on-slip and lanes 1 and 2 on the M23 between Junctions 10 and 9 will also be closed for preparatory works from 22:00 on Thursday 19 to 04:00 on Friday 20 April. The motorway will be reduced to one lane at this time.
The closures are to allow Highways England to complete their programme of deep resurfacing work which was disrupted by bad weather in January.
Only the northbound carriageway is affected by these works. The southbound carriageway will be open as normal for all traffic to Gatwick Airport/Brighton.
Diversion routes will be in place during the closures for the following routes:
Gatwick Airport: Northbound traffic for Gatwick Airport will exit the M23 at Junction 10 and take the A2011 (Crawley Avenue) to the A23 (London Road) to North Terminal Roundabout and Airport Way for access to South Terminal.
M25: Northbound traffic for the M25 will exit at Junction 10 and follow the A264 through Copthorne, turning left (northbound) onto the A22 at the traffic lights at Felbridge. Traffic will continue northbound on the A22, reaching the M25 at Junction 6 – Godstone Interchange.
Significant congestion and traffic disruption are expected in the local area.
