Fair Fares
If you are hiring Brighton & Hove licensed taxi in the street  and you are going outside the city boundary then you could be charged at a much higher rate than the standard Tariff as set by the City Council.

By law the council can only set the tariff rate for journeys ending within the City boundary. This means that licensed hackney carriage taxis can charge whatever rate they like for journeys ending outside the City boundary and can, if they wish charge a much higher rate set by what is known as the" Black-Book".

However, Brighton & Hove Streamline Taxis have a Fair-Fares policy which means that all journeys are the same rate as per the local metered rate @ £2 per mile.

If you approach any licensed taxi on a rank look for the Fair-Fares sign that will ensure that you will only be charged the local metered rate.
